Aromatherapy And Essential Oils

Aromatherapy is the ingestion or inhaling of volatile essential oils through the lungs to achieve therapeutic benefits. These essential oils are extract concentrates derived from herbs, flowers, roots, seeds and various plants that are distilled to produce volatile or vaporous essential oils, either heated or not, that you inhale, hence, the name “aroma” used for therapy.

Essential oils from these herbs should not be confused with fragrance oils in perfumes which can contain synthetic substances. Essential oils are not even oily at all, as they can be clear and quite volatile releasing distinct aroma meant to be inhaled to get their medicinal effects.

The essentials oils that have been identified beneficial for hair growth are well written about on the internet. There are many types of essential oils that suit various purposes. But all of them require a base or carrier oil that acts to carry the essentials oils in its vapor state. Olive oil, jojoba, grasped and evening primrose are typically used for aromatherapy for addressing hair loss problems.

Does It Suit You?

It may be prudent to check with your doctor to confirm two things:

First: that your hair loss is not predicated by any medical condition or existing medication such as chemotherapy for a known cancer.

Second: that the active essential oils will not complicate any medical condition or illness you are currently taking medication for.

A recent test conducted by Scottish researchers and published in the Archives of Dermatology only confirmed the effectiveness of aromatherapy in treating hair loss.

Isabelle C. Hay and fellow researchers at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in Scotland had 86 people diagnosed with alopecia areata undertake double-blind tests with a placebo control to check on the efficacy of the following bend of essential oils:
