Hair Loss Prevention Tips

While general hair care can prevent the unnecessary shedding of your beautiful hair, it can do little to prevent genetic hair loss from taking place. Still, there’s still hope for us all.

If you can manage to make your hair so strong and robust, you would probably be able to delay the progression of your balding. By keeping the scalp nourished and the hairs healthy, your crowning glory would be preserved for decades to come.

Nutrition Matters

Your hair and scalp are actually components of a small system that works with its own code of operation. As a system, your hair also requires adequate care and physical nourishment. Apart from sufficient calories from fat and carbohydrates, what you need to maintain beautiful skin and a healthy scalp are proteins. You can easily get these proteins from animal meat, legumes, green vegetables and dairy products.

It’s also important to stock up on enough vitamins; vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin C and the B-vitamins are all necessary for normal cellular division and the maintenance of strong follicles. Some of these vitamins also act as shields that protect the cells from premature destruction from the body’s byproducts: the free radicals.

Improving Daily Hair Care

The hair isn’t composed of just singular strands that you can handle anyway you like. Hair is actually more complicated than that.

For instance, did you know that each strand that you hold is actually a collection of individual threads of hair that have been twisted around to form one unit?

When hair begins to split at the ends due to poor care, you would see that each hair isn’t singular: they’re a group of strands that require special attention.

Hairs also have scales that allow individual strands of hair to exchange air and water with the environment. When you break these scales, you prevent the hair from interacting properly with your immediate environment. It’s so easy to break the scales. But it’s even easier to prevent their breakage.

Simply comb or brush your hair along the strands rather than against it. Comb or brush downward. It might be more tiresome to some, but it would preserve the scales on the hair.

Using Hair Care Products Wisely

Many of the popular brands of shampoos, conditioners and detangling agents in the market today have been produced with specific standards in place.

However, some hair care products were designed to deal with specific hair types. For example, there are shampoos that were manufactured to carry away excessive sebum or oil from the scalp. Other hair care products were designed to deal with either normal or very dry hair.

Make sure your choice is appropriate for your hair type. If you have greasy hair, there’s no point in purchasing a beauty shampoo that was designed for normal, straight hair. If you can’t find a specific variant from one brand, simply try another trusted brand and see how your hair improves.

How do you know when your conditioner is working? That’s easy: when your hair is smoother and shinier, that means the conditioner is able to penetrate the cortex of your hair and lend vita moisture to it.
