There are some safe home remedies that you can try if you wish to encourage you bald spots to disappear. While these home remedies are by no means waterproof, it would still be interesting to try them, seeing that even medical science has taken an interested in them.
While medical science is still stringent about the qualifications of a potential hair loss cure, there would be no harm in trying these home remedies to see if they work for you.
In recent years, there has been an outcry against the side effects of pharmaceutical formulations and the general cost of using these drugs for medical conditions. These issues have been thrown into the field long ago, and it appears that many are convinced that alternative means of achieving the same goals are much safer. Take for instance the use of saw palmetto for hair loss!
The useful part of the saw palmetto plant is its berries; it is believed that its curative properties are isolated to this part of the plant. Traditionally, saw palmetto was used to help people urinate better.
In addition to this use, it’s also prescribed to people of advanced age who are developing baldpates. However, in Europe, its most popular use is for reducing the size of oversized prostate glands.
So why is saw palmetto also a popular alternative remedy for specifically, androgenic
alopecia or male pattern baldness? Just like other chemical compounds built specifically
for androgenic alopecia, saw palmetto blocks a specific enzyme called 5AR or 5-
As you may know, this tricky enzyme is responsible for the product of DHT: the bane of all bald people. Read more : How Saw Palmetto Work For Hair Loss?
If you’re a frequent visitor of herbal apothecaries, you may want to ask for this plant. Originally formulated in Chinese medicine, Fo Ti is used to create the medicine called He Shou Wu.
This Chinese formula is used to convert thin, frayed hair to coarser hair. If you’re interested, you have to pulverize the root of the Fo Ti and take it for a few months. It is said that this plant is also capable of reversing some aspects of physical ageing, so it’s probably an antioxidant plant, as well.
Again, this one is from traditional Chinese medicine. One study that was done in the Netherlands concluded that Dabao can produce modest improvements in some people.
While the findings of this wide scale clinical study is somehow discouraging, Dabao does not carry the same warning as the He Shou Wu formulation, which has been found out to be potentially harmful to the liver.
Ayurvedic medicine also has something to share about hair loss treatments. According to Ayurvedic lore, three plants may be helpful in bringing back the lost hair. These three plants are:
• Eclipta alba
• Centella asiatica
• Tridax procumbens
• Amalaki
• Santalum
• Hlycyrrzha glabra
Some of these herbal treatments for hair loss are already being used extensively by many cosmeceutical companies; many of them from the United States and Western European countries like France.
