Natural Herbal Remedies for Hair Loss in Men & Women

We know how difficult it is to deal with hair loss. Most people would often put up with their hair loss until the hair loss is almost intolerable; but where does one start?

Of course, you can go to a doctor to get a prescription for things like minoxidil. But did you know that there are other natural ways to prevent hair loss, or its direct causes?

Common Remedies

Aloe vera is one of the most common herbal remedies for hair loss. The fleshy, succulent herb is also used to treat skin problems and scalp problems. Generally, aloe vera products or home remedies are used to treat excessive production of oil in the scalp, or seborrhea. Seborrhea can cause partial balding in the scalp and may even manifest in the eyebrow area and the ears. Treating with aloe vera has showed good results; the aloe vera gel seems to have an effect on the inflammation of the skin itself.

Fava beans on the other hand, have a dual role in traditional medicine. It’s used to treat anxiety in people who have nervous complexes, but did you know that this plant can also be used for hair loss? However, you should consult first with your doctor before using fava beans if you have a genetic disorder. This particular plant can be fatal to some people with genetic disorders.

Lingzhi, a flat mushroom, has been used in traditional Chinese medicine as a curative agent for obesity and liver problems. It’s also being used to treat hair loss in both men and women.

Natural Oils

One product called evening promise oil makes use of gamma linoleic acid, which is then converted to several compounds necessary for the normal maintenance and functioning of body cells and tissues. It is a regulating agent, which means it might possibly be of help to the cause of preventing the conversion of male testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, which stimulates the death or dying phase of hair cells.

Olive oil on the other hand, has been touted as an effective hair growth agent. Olive oil is mixed with other substances, heated then rubbed on to the scalp daily. Olive oil may be mixed with the following substances:

Mayonnaise

Coconut oil

Miscellaneous Hair Loss Remedies

If you want only a preventive measure for hair loss, you can choose from a variety of natural ingredients and extracts for this purpose. For example:

Soy extract has been known to be a potent agent that fights the incidence of hair loss; it has not been said however, that soy extract can cause hair to grow back.

Tribulus terrestri on the other hand, is another Chinese herbal remedy that has been reportedly effective in alleviating hair loss. It should be noted that tribulus terrestri belongs to a class of herbal medicaments that is called “cure alls” because they can be used to treat just about anything.

Wheat grass, on the other hand, is a rich source of vitamin A, vitamin E, B-vitamins and vitamin-C. As such, this calcium-rich plant may also be helpful in maintaining beautiful hair. Other minerals that wheatgrass contains are:
