Hair Loss Cause -
Losing hair is normal. Excessive hair loss isn’t. When there’s too much hair falling out of your head then chances are high that you may have telogen effluvium.
It is simply a condition where a person loses hair because the hair cycle almost
immediately switches from the growth stage (anagen) to dormancy (telogen) phase.

This thinning of the hair is not even all over the scalp. Some may lose hair a lot
in the back part or in very rare cases, in the forehead hair line. Though a person

There are a large number of different causes for telogen effluvium to exist.
Some of the most common ones are:
• Severe infections
• Severe chronic illness
• High fevers
• Childbirth
• Severe psychological stress
• Over or under active thyroid gland
• Major surgery or illnesses
• Crash or vegetable diets with inadequate protein
• Vaccinations and medications
• Physical trauma can also cause stress that urges the hair to its telogen state
TE can also be a symptom of other more serious hair disease like alopecia areata or male/female pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia). High doses of vitamin A and iron can cause telogen effluvium as well.
It is important to note that when TE develops, basically, there are three types of it:
“Shock” TE -
Gradual TE -
Truncated TE -
TE can be reversed since the hair follicles are not damaged. But the treatment depends on what type of TE an individual has and what caused it.
Some TE cases can be treated by surgery especially if it is only short-
For example, if TE is caused by allergies, then the doctor should determine what triggers the allergy so the TE wouldn’t be triggered as well. In cases where the cause cannot be determined, some doctors give medication like minoxidil to prevent further hair loss.
